Academy (U8-U10)

The Indy Eleven North Development Academy serves as a transition between Pre-Academy soccer and Travel soccer. Players receive the licensed coaching and year-round training opportunities of the Travel Programs; but there is minimal travel, and players of all levels are welcome to join, like our Pre-Academy Program.

How the Development Academy Works

The Development Academy phase introduces players to the game through a fun, engaging, and development-focused environment, while laying the foundation of the club's game model.

At this stage, the emphasis is on developing strong technical habits, fostering a genuine love for the game, and introducing key principles such as playing with the ball, creating and using space, and working effectively as part of a team. Players are encouraged to be creative, confident, and brave in possession, while also learning the value of teamwork, discipline, and collective effort when defending.

Training

All Development Academy teams are coached by licensed, paid staff. Teams train up to 4x per week during the fall and spring and 1x per week over the winter (15 weeks). The focus at training is on technical development, 1v1s, and small group play. Supplemental Training opportunities are also available to Academy players throughout the year.

Games

The game play format is 7v7. Games are held during "play dates," where a team will play two games in one day. Teams typically play 8-10 games each season, but it only takes up 4-5 days––leaving more time for other family activities. Travel for Academy teams is minimal.

All players in the Development Academy receive equal playing time during games and all players experience all positions on the field. The focus is on long-term player development.
